Title

Co-Design and Use in Health Informatics

Abstract

Digital health is expected to change healthcare as we know it. Artificial intelligence shows promising results in lab environments and new consumer technologies like wearable activity trackers have become mainstream outside the clinical setting. Nonetheless, moving from systems design to use and adoption among patients and clinicians poses a grand challenge for health informatics.

Since 2008, I have conducted research, co-design, and implementation of digital health systems to improve the distributed collaboration between pacemaker patients and clinicians. My research has focused on experiments with mobile technologies and human-centred AI to support patient self-care and clinical decision-making. My area of concern has been to bridge the challenging gaps between patients and clinicians, users and designers, and research and innovation.

In this talk, I will introduce my research agenda and give examples of my work during the past three years as Tenure Track assistant professor. I will also present my visions for future research and teaching at DIKU.
